OCP Explains AIMS Reporting and the January 2027 Platform Transition
OCP has clarified how incident reports support shared learning and who can access them. Ontario pharmacies should prepare for the January 1, 2027 platform requirements.

In an August 26, 2026 article, the Ontario College of Pharmacists explained the AIMS reporting pathway, with particular relevance to community pharmacies preparing for 2027.
From January 1, 2027, pharmacies must use a platform meeting College criteria and uploading daily to the National Incident Data Repository for Community Pharmacies. ISMP Canada analyzes repository data; OCP says it cannot access individual platform reports or identify the professionals involved in specific reported events.
Practice guidance for pharmacists
- Check your platform against OCP’s recognized list and criteria.
- Plan the transition before January 1, 2027.
- Continue reporting medication incidents and near misses.
- Use quarterly quality-improvement meetings to review safety findings and document local changes.
Reporting is one part of AIMS: analysis, documentation and sharing lessons remain necessary for improvement.
